It's always good to know what the rest of the world really thinks of us. None of the US-based news article actually come out and say it, but from BBC news: "Miers debacle hits struggling president"

Debacle. Not a word a US newspaper would use. Not only because of its connotation, but because a large chunk of the population has no idea what it means. Forgive my large vocabulary and word-nerdiness, please.

I like the way it sounds, too. Debacle. Debacle. Debacle. ...I am far too easily amused....
